KARACHI, July 18: Berthing was slow as only two container ships were accommodated berths at the QICT during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Wednesday. Meanwhile, two more container ships also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Berth occupancy fell to 50 per cent as six ships, Nedlloyd Africa, Emirates Karan, Gras Mere, Asco, Keefan and Hamburg Harmony, were busy in loading and unloading containers, cement, diesel oil and iron ore.

Cargo handling was brisk at the wharves where a total tonnage of 97,203 tons comprising 81,348 tons of import and 15,855 tons of export cargo was handled.

Sailing was active as Mere Maresk and Keefan left the port.
