Published July 17, 2007

KARACHI, July 16: A fire was brought under control immediately after it broke out in a shopping mall in Clifton on Monday night. A fire department spokesman said the fire broke out in Shop No 224 of the Gulf Shopping Mall, located near Teen Talwar. “Two fire tenders as well as DHA vehicles were employed to extinguish the fire,” he said, adding that the fire was put out before it could spread to the neighboring shops.

He said it was believed that the fire was caused by short circuit however the actual cause could not be verified.

It is pertinent to note that a neighboring shopping mall had recently caught fire that gutted dozens of shops resulting in huge losses to the traders.
