Kashmiri leader remembered

Published July 16, 2007

LAHORE, July 15: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chief Amanullah Khan on Sunday rejected President Gen Pervez Musharraf’s latest formula on Kashmir, terming it a plan to divide the occupied state into many parts.

He was speaking at a seminar held here at the Town Hall to mark the July 13 Kashmir Martyrs Day and observe the sixth death anniversary of Kashmiri leader Syed Muhammad Saeed Shah Nazki.

Mr Khan said the formula was chalked out by the president’s aide, Tariq Aziz, who could not be allowed to decide the fate of 15 million Kashmiris.

The formula, aimed at enslaving Kashmiris on both sides of the LoC, could not be implemented because of the issues of the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the Lal Masjid, he said.

Mr Khan said Nawaz Sharif had also tried to resolve the issue but despite his sincerity he committed blunders like accepting the division of the held Kashmir into eight parts.
