PESHAWAR, July 13: The Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (Smeda) have reached an agreement for computerising industrial database in order to facilitate micro industries and trade in the NWFP.

The agreement was finalised during a meeting between Smeda Chief Executive Officer Shahid Rashid and SCCI President Liaqat Ali Khan on Friday.

Mr Rashid said that the project would be initiated in collaboration with the chamber. The federal government had already given approval for the project, he added. A women business incubation centre would be set up in Peshawar, he said, adding that a national council for the SMEs would be established at the national level in August this year.

Mr Liaqat appreciated the performance of Smeda Peshawar and said that the chamber was in close connection with the authority and had initiated a number of joint projects for the welfare of business community.

He said that the government should enhance funds for the prime minister’s programme, AHAN, for the extension of its scope to the far-flung and neglected areas.—APP
