KARACHI, July 13: The Accountant General, Sindh, Zulfiqar Ali Kadri, on Friday inaugurated computer generated Pension Payment Order (PPO) system, introduced by the Auditor General of Pakistan under the Project to Improve Financial Reporting and Auditing (Pifra).

The system is meant for the entire country but Sindh is the first province to have implemented it as pension payments in future would be made under the new system. The system will help conserve time and ensure accuracy.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Kadri said pensioners were first priority of the AG Sindh office, adding that in the past, pensioners had been facing immense hardship in receiving the payment and there were also grievances like late payment and wrong figures.

He said pensioners would now get electronically generated PPOs.

He recalled that through a verdict, the Supreme Court had asked all AGs of the country to clear the pending pension cases within 15 days of the receipt of pleas at the AG office concerned. This new system will help the AG office comply with the order, he said, adding that the new system would also greatly reduce complaints of delayed payment.

Pifra Director Sajjad Haider, Deputy Accountant General Aziz Ahmed Zai and other officials also spoke on the occasion.—PPI
