ISLAMABAD, July 13: The implementation agreement for setting up a 225-MW power plant —Saif Power Ltd — in Sahiwal was signed here on Friday at Private Power Infrastructure Board (PPIB).

The $170m power plant will be based on combined cycle technology and capable of operating on dual fuel and is expected to start supplying power to the national grid by the year 2010.

The agreement was signed by Director Saif Power Anwar Saifullah and PPIB Managing Director Muhammad Yousaf Memon, a press release said.

Earlier, the power purchase agreement and gas supply agreements were signed, thereby concluding the package of agreements under the power policy.

This power project is part of the portfolio of projects being processed by the PPIB which are expected to add 6990-MW to the system by the year 2010.
