Published July 13, 2007

KARACHI, July 12: Karachi, DCO Javed Hanif has asked the city government’s works and services department to take effective steps to speed up road construction work and ensure that no hardships are caused to people in this regard and that traffic continues to flow on alternative routes.

He was chairing a meeting with officials of the works and services department here on Thursday. Among others, the meeting was attended by EDO Works Amanullah Chachar and Project Director Tamir-i-Karachi Programme Rauf Akhtar Farooqi.

The DCO said that work should be carried out on one track only at a time while the second track should be kept open for traffic so that people did not face problems.

Javed Hanif asked the EDO works and the Tamir-i-Karachi programme director to submit to him daily progress reports in respect of the road construction projects.

The DCO noted that construction material was not being cleared from certain completed roads. He asked the officers concerned to take immediate action in this regard.—APP
