CHITRAL, July 10: The Ismaili community of Chitral will start from Wednesday the golden jubilee celebrations of Prince Karim Aga Khan’s accession to spiritual leadership.

Aga Khan is the 49th imam of the Ismaili community. He ascended to the position at the age of 20 on July 11, 1957 after the death of 48th imam Sir Sultan Mohammad Shah.

Sources said that the celebrations would continue for one year throughout the district. Most of the programmes would be of religious nature to pay tribute to the imam, they added.
