EPA action against 18 concerns

LAHORE, July 5: The environment department of the city district government sealed 14 industrial units and four telecom towers on various environmental offences during the last month.

In a letter issued by the Environment Protection Agency,

Punjab, it was stated that the units — Sheikh Board Mill, Ferozepur Road; Diamond Plastic, Ghoray Shah; Hafeez Steel Re-rolling Mills, Bund Road; Imtiaz Steel Re-rolling Mills, Shadipura; Hanif Drum Dealer, Shadipura; Gulzar Steel Re-rolling Mills, Shadipura; Maqsood Steel Re-rolling Mills, Afshan Park; Mehar Steel Mills, Mominpura; Naeem Ashraf Steel Mills, Shadipura; Waqar Steel Mills, Mominpura; Maqsood Steel Mills, Shadipura; Siddique Drum Dealer, Mominpura; Jabbar Steel Mills, Township; and Z A Foods, Township – were sealed on complaints of generating excessive noise and causing air pollution. —Staff Reporter
