KARACHI, March 6: Five events have been drawn up for the Winter Gymkhana Meeting, which gets under way at the Karachi Racecourse Thursday afternoon.

All the races will be held over the sprinting distance of five furlongs with the opening event commencing from 2.00 p.m.

Faisal Farooq’s bay colt Deniro, although penalised to carry 9-4 on his back, start’s off as our day’s best.

In the opener, Sher Khan is fancied to pick up the spoils. Last time out the bay horse finished fourth behind Shining Rock, Baby Tabassum and Royal Springs and with jockey S. Khan partnering Sher Khan once again, the bay should win the race hands down from Royal Springs and Money Make Music.

Baby Tabassum should make amends in the next race and pass the victory post ahead of the rest of the field, with Lucky Love, Simple Prayer and Shining Rock completing the frame.

In a very interesting third race of the afternoon, Tanveer-e-Sehar, could register another fine victory. The chestnut horse however, will have to work up a sweat to overcome the likes of Zabyan and Bach Fly, with the bay gelding Striker providing the element of surprise.

Another interesting event is the very next race, where Walking Distance could overcome Smiling Senorita. My Time carrying 9-3 on her back, will also be joining the fray.
