KARACHI, July 2: Light to moderate rains with thunderstorm has been forecast for the city on Tuesday. The maximum temperature is expected to range between 35 and 37 degrees centigrade.

Karachi’s chief weatherman Naeem Shah said that the southern parts of Sindh province, including Karachi, and the southeast areas of Balochistan may receive light to moderate rains.

On Monday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 36.4 degrees centigrade and the minimum remained at 29.5 degrees centigrade. Humidity was recorded at 71 per cent.

According to the meteorological office advisory, Sunday’s well-marked low pressure system over central India has further weakened and moved over Rajasthan. The upper level vortex and thick cloud mass is tilted towards Southwest over Rann of Kutch and Arabian Sea.

Another depression over the Bay of Bengal is in development process which may further reduce the moisture supply to the low pressure area near Sindh. This low pressure area still has the potential to cause widespread heavy rains in the province accompanied with gusty winds especially in the south and southeast of the province, including Karachi and Hyderabad, during the next two to three days.

The system is unlikely to move closer to Balochistan coast as feared earlier. However, the areas of Southeast Balochistan close to Sindh may possibly receive heavy rainfall on July 3 and 4.
