QUETTA, July 1: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf escaped unhurt when a tyre of his special jet burst while landing at the Turbat airport on Sunday.

The chief minister and his staff were coming from Gwadar to receive Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.

The plane lost balance and slipped on the runway when its left tyre burst but the pilot managed to control its speed and brought the plane to a safe halt.

“Chief Minister Jam Yousuf, his staff and crew of the plane remained unhurt,” a senior official said.

After the incident, the Turbat airport was closed for some time to clear the runway and the prime minister’s arrival was delayed.

Later, Mr Yousuf received Prime Minister Aziz at the airport.
