RAWALPINDI, June 28: Federal Law Minister Wasi Zafar on Thursday accused that bar associations in the country were playing in the hands of politicians. “The ongoing judicial issue can not be decided by holding demonstrations and provoking agitation,” he said while speaking at Meet the Press programme here at the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Press Club.

Mr Zafar said that there was no pressure on the Supreme Court from the government regarding the presidential reference against Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry.

“Every Pakistani should trust the apex court including the lawyers and opposition,” he said, “the final verdict of the Supreme Court on the issue of the chief justice would be acceptable to the government and we expect the same response from the other side.”

Mr Zafar said the presidential reference was purely a judicial issue and the apex court would decide it impartially, therefore, it should not be politicised.
