PESHAWAR, June 28: The NWFP Assembly on Thursday called upon the federal government to withdraw the new 10 per cent increase in Haj fare. The federal cabinet had on Wednesday approved the 10 per cent increase in Haj fare while rejecting a PIA’s proposal for a 23 per cent raise.
Through a unanimously adopted resolution, the house demanded of the government to facilitate people in performing Haj.
The resolution was jointly moved by Zobaida Khatoon and Nargas Zain of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal. Opposition MPAs suggested that the movers should ask the government to reduce the Haj fare by 20 per cent and incorporate it in the resolution, but the MMA lawmakers refused to amend the resolution.—Bureau
