LAHORE, June 25: Eid won the feature event of the day/night Lahore Gymkhana Summer Meeting at the Racecourse on Sunday. Owned by Malik Hamid Ali Noon and rode by M. Wasim Khan, Eid covered the distance of 900 metres in 55 4/5 seconds with a clear lead of nine lengths over runner-up Prince Salman in the Mianwali Plate Class-IV Division-I, II, III race.

Trained by Haji Fazal Hadi, Eid left behind hot favourite Great Murad at third spot. Golden Goal finished fourth.

On the day of upsets, Simbi, however, obliged punters, winning the fourth race of the day, the Talagang Plate Class-V Division-II, covering the distance of 900 metres in 56 1/5 seconds.

Simbi, which ended fourth last week when M. Zeeshan rode it, found the right combination this time when owner Junaid Rasheed Rana decided to give the saddle to jockey Shahid Rehman.

Shahid had also run Simbi for first position on June 10.

Simbi defeated runner-up Philosopher by eight-and-a-half lengths.

Earlier, Nawa-e-Seher opened the day on fine note by winning the first race, giving a long chase to the runner-up, Leader's Wing.

Rode by Saqib, Nawa-e-Seher covered the distance of 800 metres in 52 2/5 seconds.

Perfect Promise, ridden by Atif Javed, won the second race of the day, covering 900 metres in 57 seconds and beating the runner-up, Stride To Moment by three lengths.

Princess Afaq was the winner of the third race while Janu came out victorious in the fifth race.
