PESHAWAR, June 25: The elders of the Mola Gori tribe of the Khyber Agency have demanded royalty on the Warsak Dam and threatened that if the federal government will not stop payment of dam’s royalty to the NWFP government, they will cut power supply from the dam.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, Shah Alam Khan, Iftikhar Ahmad, Mohammad Islam, and others said that as the construction of the Warsak dam had badly affected lands of Mola Gori tribe, the people of this area were entitled to get the royalty.

They said that an agreement had been signed before the construction of the dam for the provision of free electricity for domestic use to the Mola Gori tribe. But, they regretted, the tribe had not been provided free electricity either.

The elders said according to the agreement, the Mola Gori tribe would be paid two paisas commission per unit, besides 40 per cent electricity royalty.
