PESHAWAR, March 5: With all the finances in their hands, the university authorities have not only failed in the maintenance of infrastructure but have also failed to protect sensitive and confidential issues.

The dilapidated condition of the roads reflects the apathy of the managers and financiers of the university establishment who enjoy their free public conveyance at a heavy cost to the university purse. The main entrance road to the campus which stretches for about three kilometers ending at the entrance of the Agriculture University is found to be in a miserable state for the last so many years.

The spokesman for the vice-chancellor, said that the issue  has been raised with the vice-chancellor  in  the dministrative staff meeting who is taking keen interest in the infrastructural reconstruction of the university.

The university secrecy department has failed to protect the sensitive information, the divulgence of which has brought a bad name to the university. Last week various national dailies published confidential results of the selection board held for the post of lecturer in the international department, University of Peshawar, which were contradicted as being false accusations by the spokesman.

The hostel administration too is in shambles. One usually comes across private citizens who have taken permanent residence in these hostels, at the expense of eligible candidates from the far flung areas.

According to the spokesman action against the illegal occupants in hostels has already been initiated. Beggars are a common sight in the university. Even classrooms are not spared from their presence. In front of the university provost’s office they are found in abundance. The atmosphere does not provide a congenial environment required for studies.
