KARACHI, June 22: Awami National Party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan has stressed the need for a new social contract among the federating units to steer out the country of the present crisis.

The ANP leader said that the time had come for all political parties to take a stand on the future role of army and agencies. At present the country was being run by 29 generals not the people, he added.

Addressing a huge rally, organised by the ANP Sindh chapter in Landhi area here on Friday, Asfandyar Wali blamed federal and provincial governments for the May 12 bloody episode. He said there was no clash of economic interests between Mohajir and Pakhtoon as one is a master and other is his servant.

ANP provincial chief Shahi Syed said neither he nor any of his colleagues had compromised the cause of Pakhtoons. He said it was for the first time that the IG Sindh was appointed by Islamabad and not by ‘90’ and this has happened because of the struggle of Pakhtoons.
