KARACHI, June 20: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that the Site industrial area will get 25 million gallons desalinated water per day to cater to the rising demand of factories.

Talking to a delegation of Site association, led by Zubair Motiwala, the nazim said 100 acres had been provided to a private company for installation of a desalination plant which would desalinate 50mgd seawater with the technical collaboration of a UAE company.

He said the city government was laying an infrastructure worth Rs4.5 billion in the industrial area to solve the problems of industrialists for the next 25 years.

Besides, he said that a plan was being chalked out to provide water to fire tenders through water hydrants in every district. He said fire stations equipped with all modern facilities would be established in every industrial area. In addition, he said, snorkels funded by factory owners would be provided to these fire stations.

Mentioning that the CDGK has procured two more snorkels for the metropolis, Mr Kamal said that the prime minister had also assured them that the city’s biggest snorkel, which could reach 50th floor of a highrise, would be provided to Karachi.—APP
