Clarification

ISLAMABAD, June 19: A visit by an Ex-Im Bank delegation to Pakistan International Airline was part of the bank’s continuous process of monitoring its asset-backed aircraft portfolio world over and was not airline specific, says a statement issued by PIA.

In a rejoinder to a news item published in Dawn on June 12, the PIA management claimed that there was no question of the bank’s “focussed decision to undertake PIA fleet management plans’ evaluation as an isolated example.”

The management emphasised that PIA being beneficiary of Ex-Im Bank aircraft financing portfolio was morally obliged to interact with the bank’s team as and when required.
