PESHAWAR, June 19: The NWFP assembly on Tuesday offered fateha for victims of the May 12 violence in Karachi and those who died due to lightning in the Swat district.

When the assembly proceedings were resumed after the tea break, Maulana Nizamuddin of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal stood on a point of order and requested Speaker Bakht Jehan Khan to offer fateha for those killed by lightning in Swat.

Maulana Amanat Shah of the MMA supported the move, adding that fateha should also be offered for the victims of bloodshed in Karachi.

The speaker allowed the house to offer condolence and asked Maulana Nizamuddin to lead the fateha.—APP
