SYDNEY, June 17: Australia's Olympic swimming medallist Brooke Hanson was recovering in a Melbourne hospital on Sunday after suffering an electric shock in a spa pool.

Hanson was reportedly in a stable condition after she was rushed to hospital when she collapsed moments after climbing out of the pool.

Hanson's father, Ian, who is also the media spokesman for the Australian swim team, said his daughter had a lucky escape and was expected to make a full recovery.

“It was like she just wanted to go to sleep straight away, and that's the effect of a major shock, apparently,” he said. “She's more embarrassed than anything else... hopefully she's going to be fine.”

Hanson won a silver medal in the 100 metres breaststroke at the 2004 Athens Olympics and was also awarded a gold for swimming a heat for the Australian team that won the 4x100 medley relay.

Later that year, Hanson was named as the outstanding female swimmer at the short-course world championships in Indianapolis after winning a record six titles.
