LONDON, June 8: The chief of the Fauji Foundation may attend the launch of Dr Ayesha Siddiqa’s book, Military Inc, in London next week, an official at the International Institute of Strategic Studies is understood to have told the author.

Talking to Dawn here, Dr Ayesha said she had no personal knowledge that Let Gen (Retd) Arif Hasan would attend the function on June 13.

It may be recalled here that the authorities had tried to stop Dr Ayesha from launching her book in Islamabad, forcing the Islamabad Club and a number of hotels not to allow the use of their premises for the purpose.

Dr Ayesha’s narrative on the Fauji Foundation and other military holdings has already infuriated the foundation’s management and the armed forces. They have been accusing the author of untruths and sensationalism. According to her, those who are talking about `inaccuracies’ had not read the book at all. She said some people had threatened to sue her. “Well, they are welcome...I will then have the opportunity to disclose even those things which I did not write.”
