RAWALPINDI, June 8: A court bailiff has handed over a woman to her father after she was recovered from the forcible custody of her husband, from the jurisdiction of Jatli police station here on Thursday.

Mira Faisal, who was appointed as the bailiff by the district and sessions judge (DSJ), Khawaja Imtiaz, after an application for recovery was filed the woman’s father. The bailiff accompanied the policemen of the Jatli police station who raided Abdul Majeed Ghani’s house in the Doltala village, Tehsil Gujar Khan, and recovered his wife, Rahila.

The bailiff handed over the woman to her father, Muhammad Wazir. Rahila, in her statement to the bailiff, said that since she got married to Gahni, he had never let her leave her house or meet her parents. She also blamed her husband of physically and mentally torturing her. Rahila said she wanted to go with her father at her own will.

The father, Muhammad Wazir, 50, pleaded in his application that his daughter’s marriage took place a year ago and since then his son-in-law had barred her from meeting her parents and anyone from their native village. He said his daughter had been in his wrongful confinement.
