KARAK, June 8: Chairman of the NWFP Assembly’s Works and Services Committee Mian Nisar Gul has ordered the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) to ensure provision of natural gas to Karak and other southern districts of the province.

He was presiding over a meeting of senior OGDCL and Wapda officials here on Friday. He said that OGDCL’s director-general had promised to provide gas to Karak district.

He said delays in the work on the gas pipeline for Karak was causing unrest among the people. Mr Nisar said the company had only provided pipes for the area so far and work had not started yet.

He said the company should accelerate the pace of work otherwise people of the area would launch a protest campaign. He also asked the Wapda officials to remove electricity poles from the main road so that the road could be widened.
