ISLAMABAD, June 6: The CNG sector attracted an unprecedented investment of Rs70 billion during the last seven years and this figure may double in the coming years. This was stated by Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Amanullah Khan Jadoon, here on Wednesday.

He was presiding over the fifth board of governors meeting of the Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan (HDIP).

The minister said the government was paying attention to exploring vast untapped hydrocarbon deposits to meet the growing energy needs of the country.

Mr. Jadoon lauded the contribution of the HDIP for promoting oil and gas sector at par with the developed countries and underlined the need for providing know-how and guidelines to prospective investors for setting up CNG-testing manufacturing units in the country which would save foreign exchange of $40,000 to $50,000 for each unit.

Director-General, HDIP, Hilal A. Raza highlighted the steps being taken by his organisation for developing energy sector of the country on modern lines.
