Strike in Badin

Published June 6, 2007

BADIN, June 5: A partial strike was observed here on Tuesday against the Karachi police for killing Pakistan People’s Party (Shaheed Bhutto) activist Ghulam Hyder alias Dodo Ansari in a ‘fake’ encounter.

Business activities remained suspended in Gharibabad, Shahi Bazaar and the Seerani Road area.

The strike call was given by the district leadership of the PPP-SB when the body of the deceased reached here. PPP-SB supporters, led by Asghar Shah, Lala Asad Pathan and Janu Korai, took out a rally which marched on main roads. They were raising slogans against the Karachi police.

The brothers of the deceased, Waseem and Saleem Ansari, alleged that the police had killed their brother in a fake encounter. They said that their brother had gone to Karachi to purchase clothes and other things required for a marriage in their family.
