HYDERABAD, March 2: A large number of candidates for the posts of police constables in the Hyderabad district police staged a protest demonstration near Shahbaz building and outside the press club here on Saturday against their exclusion from the written test.

Talking to newsmen, they said that they were not informed on time and when they reached the venue of the test at the Niaz Stadium, they were not allowed to appear in the test.

They demanded that the recruitment programme should be cancelled and the candidates should be selected on the basis of merit.

It may be mentioned here that for 44 seats of constables in the Hyderabad district police, 6000 candidates had applied and their test was conducted at the Niaz Stadium on the second consecutive day here on Saturday.

The candidates who could not produce the relevant documents were not allowed to appear in the test.

According to reports, six candidates, who tried to create disturbance, were taken into custody by the police.

LUMHS: A new gynaecology and obstetric department has been established within the Liaquat University Hospital, Jamshoro.

This was said by the registrar of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences here the other day. He said the unit was fully equipped with the modern facilities for maternal and fetal monitoring.
