PESHAWAR, June 1: The government and private schools in the plain areas in the NWFP will observe summer vacations from June 1 to Aug 31. The NWFP department of schools and literacy has notified the revised vacations schedule for the current academic year for all the schools in the province.

According to the schedule, the winter vacations in the plain areas will be from Dec 25 to Dec 31 and spring vacations from April 1 to April 7, 2008.

In the hilly areas, the schools will observe summer vacations from July 1 to July 31, winter vacations from Dec 25, 2007, to Feb 28, 2008, and spring vacations from April 1 to April 7, 2008.

PUSHTO: A committee has been formed to implement the chief minister’s directives for introducing Pushto as a compulsory subject from Classes-I to IV. Director, Academy of Letters, Dr Azam Azam, will head the committee.—APP
