LAHORE, May 27: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has said 26,000 teachers would be recruited in next three months for primary, middle and high schools to strengthen the education sector in the province, according to a handout.

Mr Elahi said this at a meeting held to review the Education Sector Reforms Programme at Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Sunday.

He said 50,000 teachers had been recruited in the last three years while 2,500 lecturers would be recruited in the future.

The chief minister told officials to take stern action against those teachers who remained absent from schools.
