LEEDS, May 26: Injured West Indies captain Ramnaresh Sarwan will not be able to bat in the first innings of the second Test against England at Headingley subject to further test results, a team spokesman said.

Sarwan injured a joint in his right shoulder in the afternoon session on day one after landing awkwardly while trying to prevent a boundary. He used a jumper as a sling and left the field immediately prior to going to hospital for scans.

“He will certainly not bat or field in the first innings of the Test match,” the spokesman said.

“We are awaiting further results from the scans before we will know if he will be able to take any further part in the match at all,” he added.—Reuters
