KARACHI, May 25: Off-spinner Junaid Ilyas captured six wickets to spin Zone-VI Whites to a comfortable five-wicket win over Zone-V Whites in a KCCA Inter Zonal Under-19 Cricket Championship match at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground on Thursday.

The win lifted Zone-VI Whites to the top of pool ‘A’ and earned them a place in the last-eight round of the competition.

Junaid finished with excellent figures of 6-41 and Mudassar Manzoor got 3-41 to bowl Zone-V Whites out for 134 in the 35 overs.

Zone-VI Whites, in response, reached the target for the loss of five wickets in 33 overs. Waseem Ali top scored with an unbeaten 30.

Meanwhile, Zone-IV Whites thrashed Zone-II Blues by seven wickets at the TMC Ground, thanks to a fine 51 by Shahzad Hasan for the winners.

Also on Thursday, Zone-VI Greens recorded an exciting one-wicket victory against Zone-III Blues at the Asifabad Ground despite a six-wicket haul by Faraz Ahmed.

Batting first, Zone-III Blues were dismissed for 185 in 38 overs. Zone-VI Greens romped home for the loss of nine wickets with four balls to spare. Shahzaib Ali Khan hit 47 for the victors.
