SIALKOT, May 24: Hundreds of people, including women, staged a protest demonstration against police in front of the Sialkot district nazim and DPO office here on Thursday.

The protesters were holding banners and placards and chanting anti police slogans. They criticised the Kotli Loharan police for sheltering the nominated accused in a murder case besides adopting delaying tactics in arresting killer of a woman.

Later, the protesters met Sialkot SP (investigation) and informed him about the situation. They told him that accused Sarwar had killed his wife Irshad over a domestic dispute in Kotli Loharan on May 5.

The SP took serious notice of the situation and ordered a departmental probe.

SEMINAR: A seminar on ‘Public-private partnership for education’ will be held at the auditorium of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Friday (today) under the auspices of Devolution Trust for Community Empowerment.

National Reconstruction Bureau (NRB) chairman Daniyal Aziz will be the chief guest, while district nazim Akmal Cheema will preside over the daylong seminar.
