PESHAWAR, May 23: NWFP Governor Lt. Gen (retd) Ali Muhammad Jan Aurakzai has agreed to develop the homoeopathic system of medicine as parallel healthcare institutions to the existing healthcare facilities.

He has also desired to start necessary initiatives for establishment of one homoeopathic dispensary in each political agency as well as each frontier region of the Fata.

Talking to a 10-member representative delegation of homoeopathic doctors, representing, Frontier Homoeopathic Medical College and National Council for Homoeopathy, who called on him at the Governor's House here on Wednesday.

The governor conceded to a request to allow students and teachers of the Frontier Homoeopathic Medical College, Hayatabad, to avail teaching facilities at the Jamrud Civil Hospital.

The delegation was led by Dr Ghayyur Ahmad Khan and Dr Col (retd) Iqbal Shaheen. The Secretary to the Governor, Azmat Haneef, and the Provincial Health Secretary, Abdul Samad Khan, were also present on the occasion.

As 24 homoeopathic dispensaries have already been established in the province, the governor agreed to a proposal to replicate the same criteria in the Fata to meet the administrative requirements in this respect.

Responding to various points raised on the occasion, the governor was of the view that “This is a system of health, having economic advantages and we should facilitate it to work so as to help the people in getting treatments facilities”.—APP
