RAWALPINDI, May 21: A college student was shot dead by two persons over a petty dispute in the Waris Khan area on Monday, police said. Abdul Rehman, 20, had an exchange of harsh words with Iftikhar and Qasir Khan on Sunday but at that time the issue was settled after the intervention of some notables of the area.
The police said Abdul Rehman was passing through a street on Monday when the two persons with whom he had a verbal clash challenged him and allegedly shot and killed him on the spot.
Meanwhile, three robbers snatched Rs350,000 from a trader at gunpoint in the Police Foundation Housing Colony Sihala, Sector I-9, Sunday night.
The robbery victim, Ibrar Minhas, was heading home on his motorcycle after closing his sanitary store when the armed men intercepted him outside his house and forced him to give up the cash.
“The robbers first told him to give up his pistol and than to hand them over the cash he was carrying,” a man residing in the victim’s neighbourhood said.
After snatching the cash, the robbers also tried to drive away with Mr Minhas, but they had to leave it behind after failing to get it started.
As the robbers were fleeing on foot after snatching the cash, Ibrar Minhas shouted at them and tried to challenge them but they escaped from the scene.
