KARACHI, May 21: A man was arrested on Monday for attempting to rob a bank by threatening to blow himself up. The Yousuf Plaza police said suspect Mohammed Jamal entered a Habib Bank branch in Federal B. Area and held the staff hostage by claiming that he was carrying a bomb.

He demanded Rs2.5 million and threatened to blow himself up if the amount was not given to him.

The police said the bank manager told him to wait for a while and in the meantime phoned the police. They said they reached the spot and overpowered the suspect. The police said the man was not carrying any explosive. He was arrested and booked for attempting to rob the bank.
