PESHAWAR, May 19: The German Technical Agency will provide Rs140 million to the NWFP government to establish a Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), officials said.

The funding from the donor agency will also be utilised for disaster management in Dera Ismail Khan and Batagram.

The project will be completed in two years and the staff will be trained on disaster management, the officials said.

They said that a coordinated use of machinery, close coordination among hospitals and awareness through schools are some of the objectives of the project.

The NWFP government, after the October 8 quake, had devised a disaster management strategy.

The home department along with the German agency organised a day-long workshop on disaster preparedness and management here on Saturday.
