BANNU, May 18: The local police arrested three men suspected of being members of the Taliban and recovered some explosives from their possession at the GTS Chowk here on Thursday, official sources informed.

Police cordoned off the road at the GTS Chowk and stopped a Pajero. On searching it, explosives were recovered. All three men riding the jeep were arrested. The Bannu DPO, Mazharul Haq Kakakhel, confirmed that three people had been arrested. However, their names could not be learnt.

He said that they suspected them to be members of the Taliban, but it could only be confirmed after they had been interrogated.

The Bannu police station officials concerned had yet to register an FIR at the time of filing of this report.
