KARACHI, May 17: Normal shipping activity was witnessed at the port where three ships carrying containers were allotted berths at QICT during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release. Meanwhile, seven ships arrived at the outer anchorage to load, unload wheat, cement, general cargo, furnace oil, and containers.

Berth occupancy remained at 80 per cent at the port on Wednesday where eleven ships occupied berths to load, unload containers, wheat, rice, cement, diesel oil, furnace oil and iron ore, respectively, during the report period.

The port handled cargo volume of 64,011 tons comprising 39,712 tons of imports and 24,299 tons of exports, inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,991 Teus.

Five ships sailed out to the sea during the period under review.
