Ruling PML and monstrous claim!

Published May 17, 2007

MIANWALI, May 16: Claimants to remunerations pledged by the ruling PML for rendering services for the presidential rally in Islamabad have had the first taste of inconvenience, though expected, when they found a notice contradicting the ruling party claim.

The PML under the influence of being working for the president made a monstrous claim before the May 12 rally that it would pay the service providers — transporters, drivers and others - from its fund.

But as the people visited the office of DO (Coordination) Ashfaq Khan, they were surprised to see a notice informing that “all the drivers, managers of the transport hired for the occasion” would be paid only when the government would provide funds for the purpose.

Most of the local transporters whose vehicles were impounded/hired had been repeatedly demanding their remunerations and the district authorities had affixed the notice to appease the visitors.

Later, the officials concerned also tried to remove the notice to avoid any reaction from the concerned people.

The DO (coordination) was not available for comments at his office.
