PESHAWAR, May 16: Speakers at a seminar lauded the government’s efforts for the promotion of the Islamic banking system in the country and said the new system had significantly attracted the business community.

Takful Pakistan, an Islamic insurance company, organised the seminar at the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here on Wednesday.

SCCI’s acting president Haji Mohammad Israr said that certain steps which the government had taken to promote Islamic banking in the country were a good omen for the national economy.

He said that after the inception of interest-free banking, insurance companies had also started working in this area to provide protection to businessmen.

Takful Pakistan chief executive Jameel Akhtar Khan said that the Islamic mode of insurance was flourishing around the globe because it offered unique packages compared with the conventional insurance schemes.
