Collection exceeds target

KARACHI, May 16: The Sindh Excise and Taxation Department collected Rs6,884.82 million during the first 10 months (July-April) of this fiscal year, surpassing the target set for the period by Rs106.88 million.

Director General Excise and Taxation Asif Marghoob Siddiqi while addressing a meeting here on Wednesday stated that during the same period last year the department had collected Rs6,558.56 million, a press release of the department said.

He said the for the period under review the department had set Rs1,598 million target for Motor Vehicle Tax, Rs1,400 million for excise duty, Rs4,600 million for infrastructure cess, Rs185 million for cotton fee, Rs210 million for professional tax and Rs140 million for hotel tax.—APP
