MUZAFFARGARH, May 15: The NCHD has started Qaumi ORS Programme in the district to control child mortality rate.

NCHD general manager Chaudhry Sarfraz Ahmed told Dawn that under the ORS programme, 2,000 trained women would go from door to door to give training to women about the preparation of ORS.

He said the use of ORS was an effective tool to combat diseases. He said besides ORS, NCHD had provided trained staff to basic health units.

He said NCHD had opened 600 literacy centres in the district for adult education. He said NCHD would provide teachers to those schools where the number of teacher is less.

REPORT: The district monitoring team officer has given its inquiry report to the DCO about the collapse of a wall in Alipur’s Basti Ghalwan in which four girls had died.

According to the inquiry report, the sub-standard material was used in the construction of the wall.

The material (used in construction) has been sent to Lahore for laboratory analysis. On the basis of the report, action will be taken against the SDO, sub-engineer and contractor concerned of the buildings department.
