KARACHI: Pipeline bursts

Published May 16, 2007

Karachi, May 15: A 24-inch diametre pipeline burst on Tuesday in front of Edhi Centre, submerging a major portion of the main University Road and causing hardship to vehicular traffic proceeding towards Jail Chowrangi from Hassan Square.

The localities which suffered water a shortage on Tuesday and will remain without water on Wednesday in the wake of the pipeline burst include Old Sabzi Mandi, its adjacent katchi abadis, Al-Hilal Society, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, Shershah, PAF Masroor, parts of Hawkesbay, Khudadad Colony and Hyderabad Colony.

A track of the road (from New Town police station roundabout to Hassan Square) was already closed for vehicular traffic owing to its reconstruction, and another portion of it (from Hassan Square Flyover to Jail Chowrangi) is open to traffic.
