PESHAWAR, May 11: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) has severed supply of electricity to 13 more government departments for non-payment of dues of Rs8.4 million.

In a statement issued here on Friday, the Pesco spokesman said that in the Mardan circle six connections had been cut.

The names of the affected departments or projects and the outstanding amounts were: Left Irrigation Scheme Mandori, with arrears of Rs929,988; Left Irrigation Scheme Arabai Banda, Rs159,908; Water Supply Scheme Soor Qamar Hari Chand, Rs173,392; Water Supply Scheme Sapalmai, Rs62,333; Water Supply Scheme Daru, Rs84,341; and Water Supply Scheme Shakor, with arrears of Rs80,109.

Similarly, in the Bannu circle connections of seven departments have been cut, which are: Public Health Engineering Department, Rs1,662,517; Union Council Soor Dag, Rs1,251,903; Basic Health Unit Bahadar Khel, Rs55,774; Telephone Exchange Chokara Karak, Rs18,273; Public Health Engineering Department Rehmatabad, Rs1,216,186; Public Health Engineering Department Bah-adar Khel, Rs2,296,904; and Public Health Engineering Department Wali Khan Banda against the arrears of Rs 424,703.

In line with the directives of chief executive of Pesco Brig Sakhi Marjan, the field staff initiated the disconnection and recovery campaign on April 27, which is now in full swing.
