JACOBABAD, May 10: Most shops in the main bazaars of the city remained closed on Thursday after Wednesday's clash between two religious groups over possession of an ancient mosque on the Quaid-i-Azam Road.
The DCO said that section 144 had been imposed on the city to prevent any untoward incident. He had convened a meeting of the two rival groups to settle the dispute after a six-member committee, which held meeting with the two groups, reported that the warring parties had agreed to settle the dispute.
Hyder Ali Jakhrani, owner of the plot on which the mosque was situated, told journalists from Kandhkot that the mosque had been built in 1845 for travellers and passers-by and he had handed it over to the group belonging to his sect.
