NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, May 10: About 170 pensioners, including 60 widows, have appealed to the Sindh government to pay their pension from the Naushahro Feroze treasury office instead of the Nawabshah office.

A group of pensioners of education and health departments, led by Faqir Mohammad Memon (former teacher), Ghulam Mohiyuddin Shah Ansari (former district education officer) and Pathani (widow) told Dawn on Thursday that about 170 pensioners and residents of Naushahro Feroze district, were drawing their pension from the treasury office Nawabshah.

They said that though district Naushahro Feroze was created in 1989 with the establishment of a treasury office here, but they still have to go to Nawabshah office every month to draw their pension. They said that as they were old people, few among them were suffering from chronic diseases.

Ms Pathani said that the female pensioners and widows have to travel more than 100km to reach Nawabshah and, at times, they were told that the district council pensioner's budget had not been received yet.

They said that the pensioners who are residents of district Naushahro Feroze need Rs150,000 which could be released to the treasury office Naushahro Feroze instead of the Nawabshah office.
