Transporters’ resentment

Published May 7, 2007

GUJRANWALA, May 6: Public transporters have resented alleged theft of spare parts from vehicles impounded by the regional transport authority secretary and motorvehicle examiner’s staff.

They have demanded an inquiry into the matter.

Transporters demonstrated outside the offices of both the officials at GBS on Sunday.

They said tape-recorders, gas-kits, and tyres were taken away from their impounded vehicles.

They alleged the RTA secretary and the motorvehicle examiner were acting against wagon owners at the behest of franchised bus owners. They threatened that they would besiege the offices of both officers if they failed to resolve their problems.
