HYDERABAD, May 3: Awam Dost Nazim of the UC Moosa Khatiyan, Syed Shafqat Shah was arrested on Thursday by the Tandojam police reportedly for blocking Tandojam road and damaging portraits of the Sindh Chief Minister on April 22.

The case was lodged under section 124-A, 153, 149, 506(2) of PPC vide FIR No. 53/07 against the UC Nazim Shafqat Shah, Mushtaq Sipyo, Anwar Kaleri, Master Gulzar Kaleri and 10 others. According to reports was detained at the Hatri Police Station.

Meanwhile, PPP MPA Hyderabad Zahid Ali Bhurgari, MPA Pir Amjad Ali Shah Jilani and others and others had condemned the arrest of Syed Shafqat Ali Shah.

In a joint statement they said that the only crime of Shah was that despite pressure by the PML-Q, he refused to change his loyalty. They said that a day will come when the PML will be made accountable before the people.

They warned that if Syed Shafqat Ali Shah was not released immediately, the PPP will launch a protest movement throughout the province.
