New reforms package for NAs

GILGIT, May 3: Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Defence and Defence Production Senator Nisar Ahmed Memon has announced the framing of a new reforms package aimed at granting rights to the people of Northern Areas (Gilgit-Baltistan).

Addressing a public rally here in upper Nagar tehsil’s Hopper village on Wednesday, Mr Memon said that the government was making concrete efforts to develop the region and called on the local youth to work for strengthening such initiatives.

He said the demands of the local people for grant of their constitutional rights was genuine and assured them that the government would fulfil them.

The regional adviser for planning and development Mirza Hussain reminded Mr Memon of the problems faced by local farmers and asked for a waiver of their loans.
